Wörner is committed to ukrainian refugees

Wörner employees and management organize aid deliveries for ukrainian refugees at reception centers on the Ukrainian-Slovakian border.

Denkendorf, March 2022 - The images of war in our immediate European neighborhood have caused deep consternation and a wave of sympathy at Wörner. "We have business partners, customers and friends in Ukraine. Apart from the economic consequences for all concerned, it is difficult for us to bear this unspeakable human suffering. That's why we want to help," says Managing Director Stefan Jacob. Many employees at Wörner think the same way and are showing their generosity in the current cash and in-kind donation campaign for Ukraine. From medical materials to hygiene articles and toys, donations in kind are currently being collected and brought to the Ukrainian border in Slovakia by delivery truck.

Wörner sales employee Daniel Grabenstein (22) is of Ukrainian origin himself and has family members in the city of Sumy, in the middle of the crisis area. Therefore, it was clear to him since the beginning of the war that he would help. At the end of February, he spontaneously decided to get actively involved. Together with several like-minded people, he drove almost 1,200 km to supply refugees in Slovakia with relief supplies and to use his language skills on site. In the emergency shelters, people often only speak Russian. Listening, talking to people about what they have experienced or translating is therefore a very important task. In addition, his family in Germany has taken in 20 refugees and is supporting them in word and deed to build a new life here.

On April 1, Grabenstein will start the next trip, this time with the Wörner donations. The destination is again refugee shelters in Slovakia, which have not yet been sufficiently supplied. So much commitment is also rewarded by the Wörner management. Daniel Grabenstein is released from duty and receives fuel vouchers for the trip. In addition, the cash donations collected by the staff up to that point are doubled by the management.

Grabenstein is enthusiastic about the solidarity at Wörner: "I am happy to be able to make my personal contribution and at the same time I would like to thank all my colleagues and the management for their support".
